The Control Title Bar

The control title bar contains important information on the context of displayed data. It will show:

  • an optional fixed description
  • a system generated context description

Ellserve automatically generates titles for many display controls based on the control's content. The control title settings allow a fixed, custom title to be specified. The custom title is entered in the description field and the check box toggles the title's visibility in the title bar. Fixed descriptions allow the user to set title bar headings that are meaningful to them.

Control Title Element - Context Description

In the this example, fixed description is disabled, and the context description shows the control is displaying data for sites with time of use metering, aggregated by business unit over the period September 2011 to September 2012.

Control Title Element - Full Description

In this example the fixed description (Consumption Pie) has been enabled which decreases the font size of context description.

Note: The fixed description can be disabled, but the context description is always displayed.
It is worth giving all controls a fixed name, even if it will not be displayed.
Control titles are used (in preference to generic control type) by the Page Configuration control to show
the order in which display controls appear on a page.
